I would just leave and remake the lobby or swap servers or something, or pick a lower pop server/gate. It's mostly only on Valor US that you get people butting into your lobby posting HR grind trite and begging for jhens.
I mean, yeah, but I really really really don't like that feeling. The social atmosphere is my favorite part about playing Monster Hunter online, so not being able to engage with that part outside of people you know already is kind of sad...
It's still pretty easy to meet new people playing I think, it's more of an issue when you want to do specific things but you cannot specify it in the room name (or people ignore it)
Yeah, but I can't, say, sit and chat in the tavern without taking up a slot in someone's 4-player party, for example.
My favorite way is the way MH2 does it - it has some "free" 10-player lobbies, and then "Task Groups" for 4-player hunts that are set for hunting something in particular and can be passworded.

It's my first time playing tri and I'm actually really enjoying it, the underwater stuff has been interesting so far (but I can see how it might get old?) and more than anything I've really loved the bowgun customisation! That being said I did spend like an hour trying to get my keyboard to work. I had it working for one night and now it just won't work no matter what I do... I wanna cry...

the current usb keyboard workaround for dolphin is a nightmare to get working... back when i first tried it, i saw that i was able to type with my keyboard in the main menu (since they let you rename your save data and stuff), so i immediately went "holy shit keyboard is WORKING!!!", then went to loclac to see that keyboard input stopped working for whatever reason... i couldn't figure out how to get it working again for like 5 months ;-;
if you still have everything set up from when it was working earlier, you should try sitting at the gate for a while after logging in and just re-plugging your keyboard, seeing if input starts working again in between. it sounds so dumb, but it's something i still have to do to get my own keyboard to work for tri whenever i play -- thankfully it rarely takes more than a minute, and once it starts working, it behaves for the rest of the session

I did try that but with no luck. Maybe I didn't wait long enough? Few questions. Do you have it plugged in when you start your computer? Do you have it plugged in when you start dolphin? Do you have it plugged in when you start the game?

now that i've pinned down the weirdness that happens on my end, i usually just wait until i'm online to try plugging it in. my main computer is a laptop, so having the extra keyboard plugged in when i'm not using it is pretty inconvenient

Huh, alright. Ill try leaving it fully unplugged, afking in loc lac for a bit, THEN plugging it in, and seeing if it works after that.
