At least you'll have actual people to play with when you start online, lol. I have like 4-5 people max I can ping to play with

Honestly that had to feel real good for him after using the GigaProto patch for so long, lol

managed to finish most of the main village content a bit ago. haven't gotten around to fighting the last couple elders yet. other than that i've got a lot more equipment i want to make but i'll chip away at that slowly. 10/10 village experience though. only 4U's village comes close to how good it is imo

yeah, mh2(dos) was my first monster hunter as a kid. It was very difficult then and it still is now. But it has a solid offline experience, doing quests, watching the village grow and improving the experience, even the endgame is interesting by adding content; I admit that I gave up on more than one occasion, but that did not stop me. Too bad it can be even better with online content, hopefully the private server will open soon.

dos has been such a blast! i've played it before a few years back, although i stopped playing after a while cause of getting fed up with farming elder dragons...
i made a new save file cuz of the break arts translation being released -- and i've been enjoying it more than ever the second time around!! trying out new strategies to progress past monsters has been satisfying, stocking up in advance on materials for each of the big village deliveries let me fly through progression pretty quickly, and being familiar with dos armor skills made it easier to cobble together functional-yet-decent-looking mix sets (which for me is really anything that doesnt use a helmet slot)...
i'm still pretty proud about having powered through to create yian garuga's hammer super early:

it was only the initial upgrade, of course... still, the power trip from bringing this to the first kushala daora quest is perhaps indicative of what's made this playthrough special to me
also all the text + npc dialogue from break arts is super fun

Playing it for the first time with the patchies and it's already become my favourite MH game! I'm a few hunts into volcano and just got my eager cleaver. Thinking about armour sets to farm :3

It was really cool to see what feels like the first actual Monster Hunter village (Kokoto was neat, but kind of empty if that makes sense.) Felt way tougher than first-gen, or maybe it was just the lance nerfs. Gotta get back into it and make some armor sets with actual skills on them, and some good lances :D
