favorite media similar in tone to Monster Hunter?

i personally love the elder scrolls saga: obviously morrowind because of its beautiful yet dated mechanics and skyrim due to its inmersiveness (even though its not AS good as people say)

ive tried out dragons dogma and i HATED IT, and i mean HATED IT, to the point where i can confidently call it of the worst games ive ever played. i also played elden ring and straight up disliked it, just overall a lame game lol

what stuff do you guys like? dungeons and dragons sort of things? baldurs gate?

I have yet to see a monster hunter fan who doesn't connect with xenoblade chronicles x in a similar way to MH.
Maybe it's the monster designs, maybe it's how separate and dangerous 'the outdoors' feels, I dunno.

But they go together quite nicely.

I'll second this suggestion, I'm a huge fan of XCX. The fauna is very cool and the designs flow very well together, building that "ecosystem" feel. It's always a joy to discover a new species, willingly or not. Plus the endgame has a significant amount of grinding involved if you want to get optimal so a MH fan will be right at home lol.
