MezeLounge is a partner project of MH Oldschool, it's a Frontier server with tons of changes and balancing for the "ZZ" update. We would like to offer new content in the future as well as new expansions.

General Information

• MezeLounge is a friendly server that helps every player, novice or veteran, in any context.
• We offer save transfers to our servers so you don't have to start from scratch.
• MezeLounge's future is determined by the community, which means that the community can vote on balances and we can respond better to them.
• MezeLounge currently offers 3 languages ​​that are actively translated in the game (Japanese, English, French) with more to come when we have the time.
• Hundreds of players per day online!

Future

MezeLounge is supposed expand in the future, we are planning to open 2 more servers in the future designed differently as well as a "Classic Frontier" server that will only have the Classic HR content from 1-999 (G Rank content will not exist). For our nostalgia hunters out there, of course!

We are also planning another "Seasonal Server". The Seasonal Server will start from the very first version of Frontier and content will be expanded every year/half a year until we finally get to the ZZ version. Then a new season will be planned with changes so that the seasons feel refreshing! Hunters who completely finish off the seasons will get rewards on our main server "MezeLounge" (like custom transmogs)! Of course, all players who played in the season will be automatically transferred to our main server "MezeLounge" after the season ends so you can keep playing with them if you wish so.

How to Play

Obtaining our client

First of all you can also join our Discord server "MezeLounge" https://discord.gg/uE3rZMSbnZ to get the latest updates and announcements and of course interact with the whole community! There is also a channel "#client-updates" where various links to the client have been provided so you can get started and play right away!

First you should download our game client by clicking on one of the links here:

Once the download is finished, you have to extract the game (WinRar, 7Zip, etc).


Installing our client

Windows

After the extraction, make an exception for the folder in your antivirus and firewall so that the launcher and the game are not blocked or deleted by your antivirus. The reason for this is that Frontier had a protection that was removed so your firewall and antivirus will think these are unauthorized files and will delete or block the client.

As soon as you have created an exception you can start the launcher "mhf.exe" then you will get to a login function. No worries! Just log in with your data, even if you haven't created an account yet, because it will be created automatically if nobody uses this login data on our server! When you are logged in and the patch process is finished you can press the "Start" button directly and create a character and will be already in the game!

GNU/Linux

Step 1:

Download and extract the MHF files somewhere on your machine.

Example: /home/Games/<client>    

I personally recommend grabbing the base files.

Step 2:

Make sure to use the latest files.

Step 3:

Make sure to have the following locale installed.

Code: Select all

ja-JP.UTF8

It apparently runs without, but still recommended to have.

Step 4:

• Add Game
• Add A Non-Steam Game
• Browse
• Set File Type to All Files
• Select "mhf.exe"
• Add Selected Program

Step 5:

• Find MHF in your Steam Library, and enter Properties (Right Click -> Properties)
• Click on COMPATABILITY
• Check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatiblity tool"
• Make sure "Proton Experimental" is installed
• The latest Proton version beneath should also work

Step 6:

Set the launch options under SHORTCUT to

Code: Select all

LANG='ja_JP.UTF8' %command%

Step 7:

Run the game from your Steam library at least once.

Step 8:

Download 'protontricks'.

Step 9:

Code: Select all

Run 'protontricks --gui'

Select your "Monster Hunter Frontier" client from the list.
Select the following options and click OK:

• Select the default wineprefix
• Install a Windows DLL or Component
• Check 'd3dx9'
• Click OK and wait for it to install

Step 10:

Close winetricks by clicking cancel until it closes.

Step 11:

Start the game with the appropriate settings and login.
If you have the base files only it should get download them now .

Steam Deck:

The Steam Deck should work easily, just follow Step 3 for locale and Step 9 if you want High Grade working
Apparently protontricks has information on how to access the game from an SD Card if you run it off one
High Grade will obviously take more power than stock

Addendum:

404 won't load the cat image and instead redirects to a WINE homepage.
Any changes can be installed in the same way they are applied on Windows by replacing the older files.
If you are getting a DirextX error you can try by disabling HGE.
