I figured I would make this Megathread to be a place for sending pretty much all the really old Monster Hunter media you can find on the internet. This would be everything 2009 and earlier, any kind of non-official media, whether it be YouTube videos, old reviews, magazine articles, etc. Post it all here!

Recently I was sent more than 300 images and videos from someone who played in original servers back in the day (both beta and release), I should share them some day...

do we know how did they take the picture? how was the beta announced? that is cool

This is basically a photo of a CRT screen haha! They distributed the open beta by sending the physical disc to participants.

I believe it came with some copies of Devil May Cry. Flyann made a video about it and the differences between the main western release.

The thing I'm most curious about is the Japanese beta...

Yeah the PAL release of Devil May Cry came with a MH demo, not sure if it had online though and if the US release also came with it. I was referring to https://archive.org/details/MonsterHunt ... licBeta.7z

Yeah the PAL release of Devil May Cry came with a MH demo, not sure if it had online though and if the US release also came with it. I was referring to https://archive.org/details/MonsterHunt ... licBeta.7z

Yes, I'm fairly certain that version came with some copies of DMC too, but maybe I'm wrong. I know for certain the US release had online play. There's some other minor localization differences, the most famous one being the not-yet-censored blood resulting in a "Mature" rating here in the US, but there's also Melynx being called "Felyx," and "Fire Herbs" being called "Powdergrass." Likewise, the beta states that Diablos is a subspecies of Monoblos, but the final English release claims the exact opposite.
