Questions about the MHOldschool wiki

Post by jon2 »

1. How does one calculate the monsters' HP? There is the "Base HP" stat and the "Level HP" stat; how is it calculated?
Is it added to each other? E.g. Kushala Daora Base HP is 6,000 while its Lv.5 HP is 2,400, so it has 8,400 total?

Or am I wrong?

2. Which weapon is better? E.g. Eager Cleaver with 624 ATK and 340 Thunder damage or the Supremacy Blade with 768 ATK but no elemental damage?

Is elemental attack more important than base attack? Is there a good rule of thumb to tell easily that a no-elemental damage weapon has better attack than the elemental weapon; like (hypothetical) having a 100-150 point gap in ATK? Cuz frankly, most Elder Dragons' hitzone resistance have about 15% elemental effectiveness and if the elemental stat was bloated to 10 times (according to the wiki), 340 elemental damage is just 34 and 15% of that is just 5.1

3. What happened to the quest section of the Dos wiki? IIRC it was updated recently (got new cross-links on quests and monsters) but the rewards and subrewards item lists got "erased" (it now has a lot of missing item entries)

1. The base HP is just the HP the monster would have if not assigned a level. The hidden level of the monster selects the stat pool is used for that quest. for example Low Rank Kushala should be level 14-18 (6000hp~7200hp).

2. It is often best to go with an elemental weapon, for Long Sword 99% of the time you want to pick the elemental option.

3. Not sure what you mean by the Quest Rewards section being missing, it's still there for me. (maybe a Browser issue?)

Thank you for the prompt response!

1. So basically just regard the Base HP as the lowest baseline HP in Low Rank (as opposed to Village and High Rank)?

2. Thanks for the answer. I was really wondering if I should go for the high Base ATK but low elemental damage; seems that the higher elemental damage is better

3. I'm not so sure about that or maybe I used the wrong term; I meant the supply/resupply. I first encountered it when I searched for the Village Volcano quests (after the update IIRC). The affected Volcano quests are Cold Season's The Scorching Conqueror and The Earth-splitting Scythe, and Breeding Season's The Earth-splitting Scythe. Then I encountered it again in the Snowy Mountain quests The Lord of Fanged Beasts, both Warm Season and Breeding Season; AFAIK I did the same Snowy Mountain quest last month, used the wiki and the supply/resupply list was fine

1. Base HP is separate and doesn't exactly fit into any of the rank brackets overall, I don't know why Platy removed the lvl's per rank from each monster on the wiki.

2. LS does prefer element overall, it didn't really focus on raw until MHFU with the Copper Blangonga LS.

3. I'll let Platy know about the missing supply items on the wiki. (Edit they should be there now, if you find anymore please let us know)
