No herbs early on?

I can't seem to find any herbs in the first two zones, and I'm out of potions. Am I just going to have to beat Kut-Ku on supply heals?

In the jungle there are no herbs, just Sunrise herbs and Sunset herbs, in the day and night respectively. These serve the same function as the herb, so combine them with the blue mushrooms you can find in the same map for some emergency healing

Yeah it's kinda rough starting out in Dos compared to first gen.

Forest and hills is pretty peaceful and you can gather herbs and whatnot without too much issue.

However, jungle is pretty merciless. Bullfangos feel like they are everywhere and the Melynx trying to steal whatever you got as well as the pesky crabs on the beach trying to hit you whenever you're in their range.

Plus certain combinations only work with Sunrise or Sunset herbs. Gotta experiment with exploration a bit to get the hang of things in Dos.

Sunrise Herbs take their place sorta when it comes to making potions if that helps

MH2 is very interesting for being the only game to not provide normal Herbs in the beginning of the game, and since you can't consume Sunrise Herbs, you basically have to Get Gud. It's fun, though. Eventually you'll be able to get your hands on normal Herbs. I remember I used to think they just weren't in the game for a while...

don't worry, if you progress through the game more they become more readily available. Villagers can gift them to you sometimes too.
