[About the Mezeporta Location]

Post by Schrade Academy »

Here it is another post to clear doubts and some misuderstandings that happen often with the series.
It seems that lately there is all I’m writing about XD

I finally tracked down what was the deal with the "both" Mezeportas featured in the series (Frontier and Online).

Again, I tracked down all the old websites and dialogues about it in game in mainline, frontier, online and explore.
I decided to look for actual info about the the series, finding a lot of interviews, old development documents and sites and talking with people native from Japan and Hong Kong to clear my doubts and be sure about the most correct way to understand and translate the original chinese and japanese names and things that I’ve came across.

In this research I’ll explain what is the location of the Mezeporta Square in the world map, alongside explaining why there are different versions of it.

And again, because of the huge amount of images and text info, i decided to upload it as a PDF that you can acess it to be able to read it in a more confortable way!

Thank you for posting this. I am working on a map to run a TTRPG campaign of Monster Hunter, and I really wanted to work in some of the Frontier and Online locations. This is a massive help, plus it has some maps an resources I haven’t seen yet. Keep up the great work.

This may be a few years late; still, thanks for the research!

I just want to ask: even though a browser game like "Mezeporta Reclamation" is not considered mainline nor canon, seeing its anime trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsl_xSpxn_s) there were scenes of a possible ruined Mezeporta and a "suspected" Elder Dragon behind it (fighting the MC girls)

Is it possible that the original Mezeporta was devastated (probably cuz the defenses of Dundorma/Dondruma didn't extend that much to the area), thus necessitating its relocation to the former Metapetatto?

Sorry for the late reply, it has been a while since I checked the forums!
I'm really happy that you liked the research ^^

Mezeporta Reclamation (or I guess more accurately "Mezeporta Development Chronicles") is in fact a canon game made by some of the Frontier members within the COG team (responsible for Frontier).

The story of that game is a prequel to Frontier, and depicts the foundation of Mezeporta in an underdevelopment land by an unnamed Guildmaster (your character) while also dealing with a high influx of monsters in the region, caused by the movements of an Elder Dragon (later revealed to be Lao) and iirc Lao has already destroyed a village in it's path by the start of that story. The game also featured the young versions of the receptionist from Frontier while they were still learning the ropes.

The game PV was made before the designs and settings for it were finished, that's why they feature an Mezeporta with the Diva and the receptionists as more aged (this was said by Sugiura, producer of Frontier and main producer of COG games).

As for the monster that appears at the end, it is not clear what it is, but considering the setting, Keo would fit it nicely, specially considering the Diva Defense War that happens during the events of G10.1 and beyond. The destroyed place in the trailer also resembles more an small village than the Mezeportas we saw during the Frontier or that game version of it.

So while I could see the original Mezeporta being affected by an attack from a monster, based on what I seen from the setting materials related to it, it is more probable to me that they changed it to better suit the hunter's needs, regional location advantages and logistics for it's people and the surrounding areas.

Hope that could be helpful ^^
