An [Incomplete] Listing of Models from MH1J and MHG

Post by PlatyPete »

Here are the tables I've been slowly compiling to catalog models and animations from Monster Hunter 1 (Japan) and Monster Hunter G. I gave names to the animations as best as I could, though it was hard to tell what some of them were supposed to be. I haven't added player or weapon animations yet, but here is my progress at the time of writing:
Spoiler
Monster Hunter 1 (Japan)
  • "Monster" names for each em_ file: complete (this includes the Veggie Elder and Poogie)
  • "Monster" animations: all including subtable, except for the Veggie Elder and Poogie
  • Weapon names: complete
  • Armor: complete (this includes the base hunter body parts and hairstyles)
  • Stages: mostly complete (I haven't identified some Zones, or most of Minegarde)
Monster Hunter G
  • "Monster" names for each em_ file: complete (this includes the Veggie Elder and Poogie)
  • "Monster" animations: only Rathian, Rathalos, Gravios, and Red Khezu (the Raths had some changes, so others may have changed too)
  • Weapon names: about half of the new weapon files checked
  • Armor: complete
  • Stages: mostly incomplete (I only checked new files, including ones whose number was skipped in MH1J, E.G. st07
Note that all models are packaged in a .amh file. Each model has a .tex file which includes all its textures as well. Some model types have extra data or associated files:
  • Armor and Monster .amh files include bones/an armature
  • Each Monster has an associated .tbl file which (among other things) includes animation data. In some cases, a monster will not have its own table file, but will use the same table as a similar monster (E.G. Velocidrome/Gendrome, Diablos/Monoblos.) Also, I've found a few animation files that have no associated monster file.
  • Some player animations are stored in the pl01 table, but weapon animations are in each weapon's table, like with monsters (thanks for the correction 2Tie!)
Edit: moved the stylesheet to the wiki. This one contains all the info I've collected from MH1, G, and 2

the we_0X tables are player weapon animations

it should be clarified as well that the animation indexes in the spreadsheet are "which populated animation in the file" it is, not the actual index to get to them; i.e. if the anim table has 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 populated, this table will list them as q, 2, 3, 4, 5 instead. something i'm looking to improve for the blender 3.0 version of the anim plugin
Server dev // MUJI HR4 // MHG HR1 // MH2 HR0
98% of hunters have moved on to fifth gen. if you're part of the 2% who still play real action hunting games, copy this into your sig.

Thanks for the info, I've edited my original post and added a note about the animation numbers to the spreadsheet!
