I personally only used the emulator for this with no issues following the instructions. So I can't say exactly if one is better than the other.

However, it worked seamlessly on my pc. But probably up to your personal preference on which platform you see yourself using more and I would go with that.

I think I unlocked mine after the 3rd level of the smithy. Generally just keep doing any requests that you can get from the smithy and it'll eventually unlock. The smithy eventually does directly tell you can make S and U armors from now on so watch for that bit of dialogue.

Sword and shield feels very powerful in Dos. Not to mention it's got some powerful trees to go along with it. It definitely got a big boost from the first generation. I like auto-guard with it but there's only a few armors with it and gives only 1 per piece. There's a really nice deco that gives +3 ...

Finally unlocked Teostra. Had to kill Lao. Problem is, the dude with that quest wasn't showing up for the longest time. But yeah, I remember someone in discord saying you didn't need Lao, you definitely need Lao just as a heads up.

I miss demo discs a lot myself. I still remember getting the demo disc of final fantasy 12 from my Dragon Quest 8 purchase. Great memories of that which ended up me getting the game and having a great time with it.

That's probably what it is. You probably got to do more requests for him before the red bubble shows up. I would say just keep playing normally and do some requests or a whole bunch of requests and then see what happens.
