Re: [JANUARY POLL] Favorite online town?
I really like Minegarde because it looks very simple. It's like the small desert towns you see Clint Eastwood walk through in western movies. It's not particularly flashy, has the basic amenities like a tavern and some shops, and it pretty much just a gathering place for hunters from random villages...

Re: Prefer to Solo hunt or Group hunt?
I think the MMO-lite nature of the series expects you to group up and tackle the guild hall quests, so there is definitely an emphasis on group play outside of the village. Most titles up to essentially World do that format and I think it works well; as in a clearly discernable single-player only an...

Re: [DISCUSSION] Do you consider online gameplay to be a core pillar of Monster Hunter?
I'd say that if there wasn't any real online element, I wouldn't be playing the series as much. It's pretty much the only reason why I keep playing, really. I'd go as far as saying that I hate playing solo outside of maybe the first couple of hours of each game where the monsters are relatively easy...

Re: Arty's Monster Huntin' Misadventures - Part 2: Freedom Unite
[WEEK 2] Hey there Readers, It's been a week, so it's time for your somewhat regularly scheduled update. Yeah, I know - exciting stuff. Got up to some exciting stuff since last time, of which you will hear about shortly. To put it briefly, we cleaned up the remainder of the Village Elder's quests, ...

Re: What are you guys favorite weapons and why?
My usual rotation is kinda based around having one of each type of damage around at all times, i.e. bludgeoning, slashing and something ranged. I used to be a pretty dedicated longsword player and I kinda still am, especially when Rise decided to go pretty much nuts and give me like three different ...

Re: Arty's Monster Huntin' Misadventures - Part 2: Freedom Unite
Very well written! Thanks for sharing your journey. Where's Part 1 though? Thanks, glad you like it. Part 1 was all the stuff I was doing back in MH1, but the forum wasn't up then, so I couldn't have written about it. That and I think it's funny. I might even write it retroactively whenever I decid...

Re: Recommended weapon for new hunter to MH1JP?
In terms of gameplay nothing is really going to suit your tastes. My view on MH1-JP is that it's not really at that stage where the series generally allowed you to just main a weapon and do everything with it. MH1 essentially forces you to make a small selection of each type of weapon and use them f...
Re: Fashion
Fashion is pretty much one of the reasons I really like Rise/Sunbreak. Having an actual transmog system in the layered armour that isn't as scuffed as it was in World pretty much guaranteed that I'm spending time on thinking of some cool set combinations. Made a separate set for every weapon, since ...

Re: Palicos & Palamutes
I pretty much had my palico do healing since the very start. The Healing Clover Bat and the AoE heal it provides is literally enough to take the harder anomaly monster from full stamina to completely broken, tired and on the brink of death. If only it placed it more frequently and didn't spend 90% o...
